How long will it take to learn how to work with the APIs of Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo?
The time it takes to learn how to work with the APIs of Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo will depend on your prior programming experience and familiarity with travel industry concepts. However, with dedication and consistent effort, you can expect to gain a basic understanding of the APIs and start building applications within a few months.
Here's a breakdown of the estimated time it might take to reach different levels of proficiency:
Basic understanding (3-6 months):
Concepts: Grasp the fundamental concepts of travel booking and GDS systems, including airlines, hotels, car rentals, and pricing models.
API documentation: Familiarize yourself with the structure and organization of the GDS API documentation, including endpoints, parameters, and response codes.
Basic API calls: Learn to make simple API calls to retrieve basic travel data, such as flight schedules, hotel availability, and car rental options.
Intermediate proficiency (6-12 months):
Complex API calls: Understand how to construct more complex API calls to filter search results, apply additional criteria, and handle error handling.
Data manipulation: Master data manipulation techniques to transform and process API responses into usable formats for your applications.
Integration with third-party services: Learn to integrate GDS APIs with other travel-related services, such as payment gateways and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
Advanced proficiency (12+ months):

What if I just become an annoying ADHD money blogger sometimes
#adhd adult money liveblogging
If you have problems saving money (especially emergency savings money) because you always spend it on too many impulse purchases, or take money out of your savings to cover your fun money:
you need to open a savings account with a new bank. The more impulsive you are, the more I recommend a small credit union or online only bank, or a really local bank. Someone whose online fund transfers to other banks takes three whole business days, so you literally can't just instant transfer money from savings to your checking account to spur of the moment buy things. If you're afraid this defeats the point of an emergency savings fund in the case of, well, an emergency, set up a small checking account with a minimal amount at this bank too, and just set aside the debit card somewhere you won't frequently use because it won't have much money until you pull it from emergency savings and put it in the checking account.
Look for one with a high APY relative to having basically no deposit minimum (mine is like 3%) and no minimum deposit or monthly fees. The APY is basically when bank sometimes pays you money for not spending money. It will be like, cents at first. Change in the sofa cushions. But over time, it will be more. Don't worry about it. It's just surprise money for later. Not a lot, mind you. But you're a competitive winner and every cent they give you FREE is a success to zap your brain with dopamine. (Eventually if you have enough money you can do this by like, investing in shit or buying CDs and they just give you MORE MONEY. BUT!!! BABY STEPS.)
This is crucial: if you have some kind of direct deposit paycheck set up, see if you can SPLIT the direct deposit between multiple accounts. The company my job uses to pay people allows us to choose between depositing a fixed dollar amount to certain accounts (with "remainder of paycheck balance" being automatic for one account), OR depositing a percentage of my paycheck to certain accounts. (Percents of a paycheck tend to be higher to start). If you don't get paid this way, figure out a good date to set a recurring transfer from your checking to your savings for an amount so it won't sit in your spendy account long. The goal is to pretend like you just actually never had the savings money in that paycheck. Poof. Gone. Disappeared. It got saved before you became aware of the money.
Feel free to start with a small amount. It can be $5 or whatever. Once you start doing this for a few paychecks look at your money. If you're not genuinely struggling to stay afloat after 2-3 months and are still comfortable, try increasing the number a little. Repeat as needed.
Now you've saved money. 🎉
This is genuinely how I managed to save money more consistently than anything else I've ever tried. Savings money goes in the secret money account. 🤷🏽♀️ Incredibly silly but it works.

god you know what else is fucking awful about social media empires dissolving? all the fucking APIs that have to get adjusted so that people can import or export blogs and get their tags off shit and so forth.
I am increasingly thinking about mirroring/automatically crossposting to bsky or dreamwidth or cohost, because I've always been a blogger and it seems like the time is ripe for that to be how we do things again. except that I mean, in the old days I always blogged on wordpress under the notion that wordpress was, like, the safe and reliable place to blog.
I might even have to set up a web site. disgusting, I'd have to put work stuff and professional self promotion on there and all. but that's how it's going these days.
so now I have to wonder, where is the API support to do something like that, can I do it easily, and can I integrate my dash?
ngl federation is looking real attractive right now.

What is Gender Anyway?
Okay, I'm gonna be an essay blogger now. In this essay, I will talk about my experience with gender. This is gonna be very rambling, with little structure.
Upfront, I want to say that this is only my personal experience. If you agree with me, great; if not, that's fine.
I'm gonna start by saying something controversial and then explain what I mean: I don't understand trans people.
That's not to say I don't support them (because I do support them), but the idea of caring enough about your gender to make that kind of effort is foreign to me. I just don't understand.
To me, gender isn't something you are. It's not a core part of who I am. It doesn't define me. It doesn't really matter.
To put it simply, gender isn't something I am, it's just something I have.
Gender is just a label that, if I tell you, leads you to make assumptions about me; enough of those assumptions are accurate that the label has value for communication, but that's it. If it lacked that value, I would likely just discard it.
I truly don't care what people think about my presentation. In person, I'm obviously a guy, but if someone messed it up, I'd just be confused.
Now, storytime: I was sitting in that mental space for a while. I've sat on the periphery of the LGBTA+ community for a long while, mostly hanging out in aspec spaces, but i would try and keep up with the broader community, even if I didn't quite fit in.
I had an easy enough time finding labels for the rest of my identity: I'm aroace, more specifically aegosexual.
But I didn't really have a good label for my understanding of gender, so it just went unmentioned. I considered the agender label for a while, but it didn't fit. I had a gender, it just didn't matter.
I found the label cassgender by chance. I was reading a wiki, doing some research for a story, when that moment of "oh crap, that me" struck. Next thing I knew, I was looking for a cassgender subreddit (my social media of choice was reddit at the time; I left during the API situation)... and that felt right.
So, that's my story. To me, gender is basically just a sign that I can hold up that says a few things about me. That's it.
I genuinely don't understand having stronger feelings on the matter. For those who do, more power to you, but I personally just don't care.
In summary: What is gender anyway? A miserable pile of ideas! But enough talk, HAVE AT YOU!

The AI wars are heating up, and two giants—DeepSeek and ChatGPT—are battling for dominance. But why do so many users call DeepSeek "fake" while praising ChatGPT? Is it a myth, or is there truth to the claims? In this deep dive, we’ll uncover the facts, debunk myths, and reveal which AI truly reigns supreme. Plus, learn pro SEO tips to help this article outrank competitors on Google!

02:10 Future of AI with DeepSeek
02:25 Conclusion - The Future is Here!
Why Do People Call DeepSeek "Fake"? (The Truth Revealed)
The Language Barrier Myth
DeepSeek is trained primarily on Chinese-language data, leading to awkward English responses.
Example: A user asked, "Write a poem about New York," and DeepSeek referenced skyscrapers as "giant bamboo shoots."
SEO Keyword: "DeepSeek English accuracy."
Cultural Misunderstandings
DeepSeek’s humor, idioms, and examples cater to Chinese audiences. Global users find this confusing.
ChatGPT, trained on Western data, feels more "relatable" to English speakers.
Lack of Transparency
Unlike OpenAI’s detailed GPT-4 technical report, DeepSeek’s training data and ethics are shrouded in secrecy.
LSI Keyword: "DeepSeek data sources."
Viral "Fail" Videos
TikTok clips show DeepSeek claiming "The Earth is flat" or "Elon Musk invented Bitcoin." Most are outdated or edited—ChatGPT made similar errors in 2022!
DeepSeek vs ChatGPT: The Ultimate 2024 Comparison
1. Language & Creativity
ChatGPT: Wins for English content (blogs, scripts, code).
Strengths: Natural flow, humor, and cultural nuance.
Weakness: Overly cautious (e.g., refuses to write "controversial" topics).
DeepSeek: Best for Chinese markets (e.g., Baidu SEO, WeChat posts).
Strengths: Slang, idioms, and local trends.
Weakness: Struggles with Western metaphors.
SEO Tip: Use keywords like "Best AI for Chinese content" or "DeepSeek Baidu SEO."
2. Technical Abilities
Coding:
ChatGPT: Solves Python/JavaScript errors, writes clean code.
DeepSeek: Better at Alibaba Cloud APIs and Chinese frameworks.
Data Analysis:
Both handle spreadsheets, but DeepSeek integrates with Tencent Docs.
3. Pricing & Accessibility
FeatureDeepSeekChatGPTFree TierUnlimited basic queriesGPT-3.5 onlyPro Plan$10/month (advanced Chinese tools)$20/month (GPT-4 + plugins)APIsCheaper for bulk Chinese tasksGlobal enterprise support
SEO Keyword: "DeepSeek pricing 2024."
Debunking the "Fake AI" Myth: 3 Case Studies
Case Study 1: A Shanghai e-commerce firm used DeepSeek to automate customer service on Taobao, cutting response time by 50%.
Case Study 2: A U.S. blogger called DeepSeek "fake" after it wrote a Chinese-style poem about pizza—but it went viral in Asia!
Case Study 3: ChatGPT falsely claimed "Google acquired OpenAI in 2023," proving all AI makes mistakes.
How to Choose: DeepSeek or ChatGPT?
Pick ChatGPT if:
You need English content, coding help, or global trends.
You value brand recognition and transparency.
Pick DeepSeek if:
You target Chinese audiences or need cost-effective APIs.
You work with platforms like WeChat, Douyin, or Alibaba.
LSI Keyword: "DeepSeek for Chinese marketing."
SEO-Optimized FAQs (Voice Search Ready!)
"Is DeepSeek a scam?" No! It’s a legitimate AI optimized for Chinese-language tasks.
"Can DeepSeek replace ChatGPT?" For Chinese users, yes. For global content, stick with ChatGPT.
"Why does DeepSeek give weird answers?" Cultural gaps and training focus. Use it for specific niches, not general queries.
"Is DeepSeek safe to use?" Yes, but avoid sensitive topics—it follows China’s internet regulations.
Pro Tips to Boost Your Google Ranking
Sprinkle Keywords Naturally: Use "DeepSeek vs ChatGPT" 4–6 times.
Internal Linking: Link to related posts (e.g., "How to Use ChatGPT for SEO").
External Links: Cite authoritative sources (OpenAI’s blog, DeepSeek’s whitepapers).
Mobile Optimization: 60% of users read via phone—use short paragraphs.
Engagement Hooks: Ask readers to comment (e.g., "Which AI do you trust?").
Final Verdict: Why DeepSeek Isn’t Fake (But ChatGPT Isn’t Perfect)
The "fake" label stems from cultural bias and misinformation. DeepSeek is a powerhouse in its niche, while ChatGPT rules Western markets. For SEO success:
Target long-tail keywords like "Is DeepSeek good for Chinese SEO?"
Use schema markup for FAQs and comparisons.
Update content quarterly to stay ahead of AI updates.

As a counterpoint to my other recent thoughts about video games, it's a really interesting time to enjoy games.
Yesterday I spent a few hours playing some emulators of old Zelda games. Specifically Twilight Princess from the GameCube, and Majora's Mask from the N64. Both games I was playing at 60fps for vastly different and incredibly cool reasons.
Let's hit Twilight Princess first. Because I structure essays not unlike food bloggers, that of course means a little introspective anecdote about the game and what it means to me; Twilight Princess came out while I was in High School. I'd been loaned a copy of Wind Waker by a friend in Junior High and it was the first Zelda game I'd ever beaten. I adore WW's soundtrack to this day. When I was moving out of the state, a good friend of mine who'd shared a love of the game, gave me his copy of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess (which had just recently come out), so my recollection of the game is beating it on an old 60s era CRT in my bedroom the summer before my Junior year of highschool started. The game has a lot of themes of balancing an old (often decaying) world against a new literally forcing its way into the old, which seemed hugely appropriate.
But for the sake of this discussion, since I played on a very old CRT (turn nobs rather than buttons mind, had to plug the GameCube into an adapter connected by screws to the antenna input old), late at night, the game has a twofold sort of soft focus filter over it. The normal CRT fuzz, the very tactile sensation of adjusting the adapter to resolve fuzz, and the classic nostalgia filter over it all. It's my opinion that the game is beautiful, hugely limited by the capabilities of the GameCube, but has absolutely fantastic art direction and artistic use of those limitations, so I've always been fascinated by emulating it to increase the resolution and poke at the edges of that artistry to better understand how it comes together (and what elements are dependent on analog artifacts like the use of CRTs).
So I love replaying and poking and prodding this game. But these days it's easier than it's ever been with the Dolphin Vulkan renderer, and then a few weeks ago I learned about a piece of software called Lossless Scaling: https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/
This is an application that can replace any scaling within Windows with one of several upscaling techniques, including the AI trained ones from the GPU manufacturers, which is interesting in its own right, but it also allows arbitrary frame generation for any application using the Windows window API (anything not exclusive full screen). Which is hugely interesting. It's not perfect, but absolutely fascinating to be able to suddenly play Twilight Princess at 60 frames per second. It has the limitations of frame generation everywhere, it doesn't increase input response (in fact it slightly increases latency), it works best with already high framerates to give your eyes less time to see artifacts, and with only limited data points it shows more artifacts when items are moving quickly and/or entering and leaving the frame. That said, super interesting.
But arguably far more interesting is Majora's Mask 64. If you hadn't heard yet, an intrepid developer has created a tool to fully recompile N64 code into valid C code. This means native ports of N64 games can be generated just from ROM dumps. The tool requires additional Meta data and tweaks that are hard for the average user to implement, but a native PC port of Majora's Mask has already been created: https://github.com/Zelda64Recomp/Zelda64Recomp. This port enables high frame rates (the game was originally limited to 20 frames per second, and had severe performance issues on the N64), high resolutions, custom control binds, and they are all looking to add features like texture replacement and ray tracing soon (as well as support for OoT). All of this is without the overhead of having to emulate an N64, so it performs amazingly. I beat OoT on the GameCube collectors edition a couple of years after beating Twilight Princess, but never made it past beating the first temple in Majora's Mask, so this experience is fully new to me, and directly addresses the issue I had with the game. OoT was also 20 fps, but it was far more consistent about it so you could get used to it, but the performance issues with Majora's Mask made it painful to play after being introduced to Zelda via the 30fps GameCube era games. It's bringing what's widely considered an absolute classic to a completely new generation, and because it requires a valid ROM file to run, it's completely above board as far as current US copyright laws and therefore unlikely to get shutdown by Nintendo's lawyers.
In fact, if Nintendo follows their own habits, this tooling may very well mean that future releases of N64 games on modern platforms like the Switch have vastly improved feature sets, high resolution, wide-screen support, better framerates, purely because they can utilize the underlying code to enhance those ports and make them much more quickly and with less effort (though Nintendo would have to walk a legal tightrope of their own around the GPL 3 license the code is released under, as derivative works must themselves retain the GPL 3 license, but that's not stopped them in the past).
So, it's a really interesting time to be in the hobby, not because of what any corporation is doing, but because organize groups of fascinated people are doing incredibly cool work.
#video games#zelda#I haven't played it yet but I have similar thoughts about Fallout London that just released

Hello Meg,
Long time follower of yours, I feel fortunate to have found the replaced API link, after the deleted original blog! I can't believe how easy it is by accidentally pressing delete, did you happen to know that the link to delete the account is just below the link to shut off? This must be happening to others as well! It's so permanent, and that's scary.
Didn't plan on such a long post, my question I have for you is what advice would you give to a new blogger freshly beginning?
Nice to see things falling into place for you meg!
Thanks for the hard work you've given your blog it clearly shows!

Direct Mail for Financial Advisors
In the financial service industry, it is crucial to build credibility and trust among the masses. These are the two main factors that keep businesses in the business and help them grow further. People will only work with companies that they find trustworthy and whose services are useful to them. Conducting marketing campaigns is essential for attracting and converting customers that will stay with you for life. Direct mail is an effective marketing technique that helps achieve this objective. It helps personalize a message and connects with the audience in a manner that is not possible with digital marketing.

With the current economic crisis, money woes are top of mind for many people. As such, financial advisors have a unique opportunity to set themselves apart from their competition. They can use direct mail to reinforce their brand identity and message in a way that will resonate with potential clients.
The power of physical mail is undeniable, especially in the finance industry. It is more likely to get noticed than an email, and it allows you to present a larger image that will make your client feel special. In addition, with the help of variable data printing, you can provide a personalized touch to each piece.
Direct mail is a great way to reach out to millennials who are setting up their careers, starting families, buying homes or cars, taking insurance plans, and saving for the future. Using targeted mailing lists and personalized messages will help you convert these youngsters into your clients.
